Ok, you might have noticed that I document my life with frequent pics, videos and tweets. I feel like it’s just another way to express myself…much the same way that making music is…it’s just not as time consuming. :-) I use the instagr.am app for most updates these days. There is a constant feed of my 20 most recent pics on jamierowe.com. I also like to use the Hipstamatic app, but, it’s not as user friendly in a “get the pic before it’s gone” sense. If I have more time, I’ll use Hipstamtic then feed that shot into Instagr.am. It’s just too easy to make an interesting pic on the fly these days…
As far as a traditional camera.. I have a low quality Kodak that takes better pics than it should. I also borrow my father-in-laws Canon Rebel on occasion. It’s older, but still takes a pretty sharp image. One thing I’ve learned is, the better the lens, the better the pic. There are plenty of things to do later in Photoshop, but you won’t need to do nearly as much if you take the initial pic with a top-notch lens. Max Hsu showed me the power of a quality lens during vocal tracking on Newsboys’ “In The Hands of God” CD. I was taking stellar shots during the session with little effort using his camera…the luxury of shooting with a $2,000.00+super-d-duper high quality lens. Some of my favorite photographers include Jeremy Cowart, Kristen Barlowe, Matthew Barnes, Neil Zlozower, William Hames and Dan Rowe - the latter happens to be my nephew. Most of these are music photogs, but I tend to think they take more interesting portraits than most.

Are you on iPhone? If so, I encourage you to grab Instagram. Android and other formats probably have something similar. Grab it, use it, live life and post/share it!
Love DOES win!
