New Guardian album…

You did it!

You took your belief in the band and put it into action. We reached our goal of 30,000.00 for the new Guardian record. Half of that came in in the last week. With a LARGE part of that coming in the last 3 days! I confess, I quietly had given up a few weeks ago. The 2 weeks ago, I got a call from John Elefante who sensed my discouragement and gave me a kick in the pants to start believing it can happen. This coincided with a band conference call where everyone began to rally… a bit late in the game..but just in time. I can tell you that using Kickstarter was tough for us. It feels weird to ask people to donate. But the math of our fanbase led me to believe that everyone could chip in a small amount and we could be off and rocking. In the end, 446 of our fans turned the key to unlock this new record. I cannot tell you how much I (we) appreciate those people! We found out that most of our Latin American audience, who have inspired us so much, don’t typically have credit cards. they use bank/debit cards. Which is great, but Amazon Payments didn’t accomodate those folks. If there was one thing I learned, Kickstarter really needs to integrate paypal. Also, if you are a band/artist wanting to use Kickstarter, I say go for it. But I’d also advise you to check out similar platforms like http://www.indiegogo.com/ I think if we could use the way back machine, we would have used them instead.

Now comes the really fun part: Getting the songs fine tuned and start recording! I am as eager to get this thing rocking as you are!

I have to give some major props to a few friends who helped spread the word:

Michael Sweet – stryper.com – My hero growing up, he gave us a major boost when he tweeted and posted on facebook. No one asked him to do it, he just did. We got a lot of “I didn’t know you were doing this til Michael posted” comments. Michael Sweet is the real deal folks. I appreciate him.

John DiBiase – Jesusfreakhideout.com – A great friend to the band since the 90′s. He gave us press right out of the box and we thank him.

Andrew McNeice – melodicrock.com – Andrew has created the “go to” site for 80′s and 90′s flavored hard rock. He gave us front page coverage of the note we sent out. He is appreciated.

John Elefante – For what I mentioned in the first half of this.

Phil Madiera – Phil was a major cheerleader to us behind the scenes. The man just got his own Kickstarter funded and was pushing us all the time to stop jacking around and get those updates going.

Shane “Kickstand” Boyd – Guardian road crew and now a successful radio promoter. He was shouting out all the time to his connections.

Edited to add this: I blew it! I had intended to include our Latin American Agent Eugenia Rivas Laise in this list! She is VERY important to us. She was driving our facebook efforts and was in my mind to thank here. I must have forgot when I actually wrote it. It’s important that I clear this up. Eugenia Rivas Laise was/is a MAJOR help to Guardian and all of us appreciate her greatly! I’m sorry I missed it. We thank you Eugenia and we love you lots!

And again, again, again! – Thanks to all 446 of you who made this happen.

To God be the glory!

jamie

I’m very excited to hear all those stories.
It was great news when we saw you made it!I mean,
we stayed awake late that night, checking once and again as the amount of pledges increased in Kickstarter, until the funding goal
was reached. :)We weren’t able to pledge, but we backed you guys in prayers and posting to many friends on FB. Can’t wait to get the new Guardian’s album. Glory to God! :)

Also with IndieGoGo, not only is there a Paypal option, but you receive the funds that come in via paypal (almost) immediately.  Anything by credit card arrives a week after the close of your campaign.  IndieGoGo also will let you receive all your funds even if your campaign goal is not met (or you can have it returned to the donors, if you so choose – just like Kickstarter).  I’ve been considering/researching both as I have been trying to fund a new Bible-based TV show called Far From Eden.  Kickstarter has a lot more traffic that just wanders through and has more hits per day, but IndieGoGo seems to be the way to go if you are not sure you will make your goal, but know you are going to proceed on your project regardless if your goals are met.  They both have their pros and cons.

    • jamierowe

Great insight! I know personally, I am more inclined to make an online purchase if there is a PayPal option. Hit me back when your project is starting its campaign too.

    and petra???

    • jamierowe

Did Petra also shout out? If so, I wasn’t aware! I sure do appreciate them and have a long history with them. Much love!

  • Reborn777

Agreed : kickstarer will be perfect wih paypal option!!

  • Reborn777

Jamie, who finally pledge the last 10000$? Cause, when I add all the pledges (446) it’s a little more than 20000$, but really not 30000$… SO, U guys, have decided to complete the project with your own funds? Just curious, as a backer of this great project ;o)

    • jamierowe

The angel matched pledges up to the 30k ceiling from wed to sat. Kickstarter and Amazon forbid you to fund it yourself.

      • Reborn777

Ok, but why the angel pledges dont appear on the kickstarter account?

It’ll be nice to know not who are the angel, but in what “section” they have pledged ;o) (sorry for my bad english, I’m french!!)

      Thanks! Ireland!!! Yes!!!

  • Rob

I learned about your campain from Dale Thompson(of Bride).  Saw Bride and Guardian together in concert about 15 years ago, best concert ever.  Got a picture of me with Jamie Rowe and Dale Thompson.  My favorite 2 bands of all time, Guardian and Bride.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jamierowe Jamie Rowe

Again, I was unaware of Dale doing that. We love Dale!!

  • Jette

Don’t forget Luke Easter of Tourniquet. He has promoted you from the beginning, and it was from him that I first learned about it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jamierowe Jamie Rowe

Props to Luke. I had actually exchanged emails with him too on the front end as they had experience with KS. Luke is gold!

  • Hans Van Vuuren

Thanks for being honest about your fear it wouldn’t work. I pledged around the 7000/8000 and thought a couple of weeks later that it wouldn’t happen anymore. But am glad it does! Power Of Love is still one of my favorites (and still love to drop in some Guardian-songs in my radio-shows here in The Netherlands (just tune in on GrootNieuwsRadio.nl ;)). Good luck on the recording!

  • Kevin

Luke Easter was promoting this consistently from the start. Didn’t prompt me to support, I already had done so, but his updates reminded me to check out the progress and share with others.
The real challenge now is to push each other to the point of anger:) to ensure that this is the best Guardian album ever! Creative tension =growth and great art!
Swing Swang Swung, Buzz was the height of Guardians sound and identity, looking forward to a new project from an exceedingly talented group of guys…

  • Sandypandygsr

I’m so happy there’s going to be a new Guardian album – I just wish I’d come across the kickstarter thing sooner cos I would definitely have donated!

  • Philo

This is awesome news! May I ask what musical style this new album is going to be? Hard Rock? Acoustic Rock? Ballads? ‘Just toss me a bone here!
